Tropenbos Ghana participates in maiden Orange Cocoa Day event

Tropenbos Ghana participated in the Netherlands Embassy’s maiden Orange Cocoa Day, an exhibition organized in partnership with Dutch companies and organizations in Ghana’s cocoa sector. The event took place at the residence of the Dutch Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Mr. Jeroen Verheul.

The colourful exhibition was held under the theme: ‘Promoting service delivery in Ghana’s cocoa landscape for cocoa sustainability.’ Ambassador Verheul outlined the diverse support the Ghanaian community has enjoyed from the Dutch government in the area of sustainable cocoa production including financial support given to environmental Non-Governmental Organizations implementing sustainable, climate-smart agriculture across the various landscapes in Ghana. He mentioned that the Dutch Embassy will continue to promote and sponsor actions that mitigate climate change impact.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of COCOBOD, Mr. Joseph Boahen Aidoo touched on efforts made by his outfit in the area of service delivery. He outlined actions COCOBOD is implementing to ensure sustainable cocoa production. He also mentioned that COCOBOD is in the process of rolling out a retirement package for cocoa farmers. Mr. Aidoo also called for strengthened collaboration from CSOs and NGOs within the cocoa sector to enhance service delivery.

At the event, Tropenbos Ghana mounted an exhibition stand to display information, education, and communication materials such as scientific publications, reports, policy briefs, brochures on the organization’s activities in cocoa-growing landscapes.
